For the last 13 years I’ve been in a party plan direct sales company. So, I got to go to a LOT of parties! Over the years my hosts have made some pretty yummy eats and if it’s super yummy I always ask if they mind sharing the recipe.
One of my all time favorite eats is Grape Salad. The first time I had it I couldn’t believe how AMAZING it was. The only thing healthy were the grapes though! Then, I went to a hosts home and she made a lighter version. I really liked it! So, I’ll include both recipes and you can decide which you’d like to try.
Grape Salad (Original Version)
- 10 C red and green grapes, washed, taken off the stem and dried
- 8 oz cream cheese (let it sit out to soften)
- 8 oz sour cream
- 1/2 C sugar
- 1/2 C brown sugar
- 1 C chopped pecans
Mix together the cream cheese, sour cream and sugar until smooth and creamy. Pour over grapes and gently toss. Place in a nice bowl for serving. Mix together the brown sugar and nuts. Sprinkle over the top. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve. **I do like to add the topping just before people arrive. It keeps the nuts from getting soggy.
Grape Salad Lighter Version
- 10 C red and green grapes, washed, taken off the stem and dried
- 8 oz fat free greek yogurt
- 4 oz light cream cheese
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Mix together yogurt, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Toss gently with the grapes and place in a serving bowl. Mix together the brown sugar and nuts and sprinkle over the top. Enjoy!
Now, I’m here to tell you that either version of this is EXTREMELY ADDICTING! It’s a true favorite around here and it’s a requested dish I make often! It’s a tad expensive when grapes are high so I for sure make it when grapes go on sale!
Have you ever made this? Is it a family favorite? If you end up trying it I hope you love it as much as we all do!
