How To Ease Anxious Feelings Naturally

I don’t know about you, but I don’t typically hear people talk about anxious feelings. We all think we are the only ones who struggle with that.  All you have to do is mention you’ve had anxious feelings and all of the sudden everyone else feels comfortable sharing.

I’m not ashamed. I don’t mind talking about it.

It makes me feel better to talk about it and hear that other people struggle in the same way. The past 6 years have been difficult and I certainly had my share of anxious feelings in the middle of it all.

Both my parents have passed away so needless to say, thinking about life without them and the unknown of what was going to happen created a lot of those feelings. I still have those feelings from time to time, but I can control them now. I can pretty much wake up and tell what kind of day it’s going to be.

If I sense any anxious feelings at all, I start taking care of it right then. As a matter of fact, I love the calm so much I have a daily regimen that I use that is strictly for stress and anxiousness.

Here’s what my anxious feelings look like. They oftentimes start out slow. I just have this looming feeling. It feels like my world is coming apart or sometimes I’m just stressing about I don’t even know what.

It’s really one of the worst feelings there is. I’m a control freak, so when my body becomes something that I can’t control, that just adds to the stress.

I’ve said it before, but this year I decided to change my life. Literally. I began reading my bible, I began eating better, I began exercising, I started thinking positively, I started taking supplements and I started using essential oils. I’ll tell you, the oils have changed my life.

I have felt SO much better doing everything I was doing. BUT, I would still struggle with anxious feelings every so often. I knew I had to do something.

That is literally how I found oils. I was heard them mentioned often. I was skeptical, but decided to give them a try. All I can say is WOW!

Here are the oils I use most often for stress and the reduction of anxious feelings:

Lavender – this is great for relaxing right before bed time. It’s wonderful in a hot Epsom Salt bath. I wrote a whole blog post about baths. You can check it out here: Benefits of an Epsom Salt and Essential Oil Bath

Calming Blend – It’s a lavender based oil that smells delightful! It’s a little less strong than straight lavender. I use this sometimes at night on the bottom of my feet as well as in the bath. Sometimes I’ll use it during the day if I feel a little stressed. I’ll put a few drops in my hands and breathe in deeply. It’s very calming.

Grounding Blend – This is my favorite and the one I use every day. I use it every morning when I get up. It just puts me in a calm place first thing in the morning. I also use it when I’m entering stressful situations like doing presentations, going to the dentist, talking to the cable company :) You get my drift.

I’ll either put it on my feet or I’ll put some in my hands and breathe deeply. I get an immediate sense of calm. A sort of stillness. It’s a wonderful feeling.

Grounding Blend is also wonderful if you start to have anxious feelings. If I feel that coming on, I’ll put it in the bottom of my feet, inhale it and sometimes put it in the back of my neck. In a matter of a minute or two the feelings start going away. It’s crazy how fast it works!

If you have kids, this is wonderful to use on them before they go to bed. It just relaxes them and takes away their bedtime fears. You can put it in the bottom of their feet and have them smell it as well. Grounding Blend smells woodsy. It’s a mixture of Spruce, Ho Wood, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile and Frankincense. It brings a sense of comfort.

I honestly don’t know how I lived without these essential oils for so long. I discover more every time I use them.

If you are struggling with anxious feelings, I want to encourage you to give Grounding Blend a try. I do love doing yoga which brings a calming element as well. I’ve actually put this on before I get to yoga and it adds a whole new feeling to the workout. Even more calming than normal!
