As my business has grown over the last few years, I’ve had the pleasure of traveling a lot. With business trainings, meeting new team members, incentive trips and family vacations, it has been so much fun and such a blessing.
It’s also been a great opportunity to figure out just which oils are essential for travel. There are a lot of things that can happen away from home and I’m always grateful that I have my essential oils on hand to help me out. I can tell you, no one likes to feel bad away from home. These are a MUST have!
Here are my top doTERRA essential oils for travel:
This is not only to boost your immune system but it will also protect you when you are in crowds or large groups. Think of an airplane. You are sitting close to a LOT of people and you’ll hear sneezes, coughs and sniffles all around you.
I like to take a drop of On Guard in my hand, rub my hands together and take a nice deep breath. Breathe in through the mouth and nose. Those molecules will go into the nasal passages and hang out there, providing a protective barrier against environmental threats. I love the peace that On Guard brings me.
Because let’s be real. We don’t typically eat well when we travel! DigestZen is amazing for any kind of stomach upset or digestive issues. My husband calls irregular bowel movements vacastapation. Yes … it happens almost every time we travel…or at least it used to happen. :)
There are two oils that help keep your system moving nicely. DigestZen of course and also Lemon.
I make sure to bring my stainless steel water bottle and I drink lemon essential oil in my water every day. It naturally cleanses the body in addition to aiding in digestion. I can’t go a day without this in my water!
You just don’t know when you will feel some head discomfort coming along or when you need to cool off a bit. Peppermint is so cooling and refreshing. Excellent when it’s been a long day and you need a pick me up! Once, while driving late at night this oil kept me alert and awake! SO grateful to have it.
Lavender and/or Serenity
Let’s face it, sleeping in hotels makes for a night filled with wake ups for most people. Applying Lavender or Serenity to the bottom of the feet before bed, applying a drop to your pillow and if you bring a diffuser with you (I ALWAYS do) you can diffuse those as well! It’s rare that I don’t get a good night’s sleep in a hotel with these at my side.
I love this oil because, “When in doubt, pull your frankincense out!” It has an extensive chemical profile making it good for just about any obstacle you come across while you are out of town. Plus, it’s calming and I love to start my day applying it to the bottom of my feet.
A few ways to use them
If you feel your immune system becoming compromised, apply On Guard to your feet and drip a drop or two of frankincense right under your tongue. Excellent immune support!
Feeling stressed about travel plans that have gone awry? Pull out your lavender and frankincense and use them! Apply to the back of the neck and take some nice deep breaths. I like to apply over my heart as well. So calming!
I hope this helps you decide what doTerra oils to take when you travel! By the way, you can carry these on a plane with no problems. Just put as many as you want into a zip lock bag and carry them with you.
Where to get doTERRA oils
If you’d like to get your own doTERRA oils for travel, the best way to buy is as a doTERRA member so you can get a discounted starter kit and 25% off all future orders.
These oils are part of the Family Physician Enrollment Kit. Or you can get three times the amount of oils with a free diffuser in the Home Essentials Kit.
I rarely carry my essential oils when traveling. I mainly use them at home with a diffuser. After reading your article, I decided to buy ON GUARD and DIGESTZEN. Will bring them with me when I travel. Make the most of their use. Thanks.
